HILL HAND PUMP INSTRUCTIONS

Congratulations and thank you for choosing the Hill pump. The pump kit comprises the following: Pump Assembly with pressure gauge; Foot plate and fixing screws: Handle and fixing screws: 300mm air hose and 200 Din brass adapter.

Assembly of pump

  1. Before connecting the 200 Din Brass adapter to the pump ensure that the external thread of the adapter is clean and the sealing washer is in place. Screw the thread into the pump connections below the pressure gauge and tighten with a wrench. Do not over tighten.
  2. Assemble the foot plate to the base of the pump using the short screws and the Allen key. Note that the screws are countersunk and will only fit correctly on one side of the foot plate.
  3. Assemble the handle to the top of the pump using the long screws and Allen key.

Connection to cylinder and charging

  1. Connect the brass adapter to the air cylinder and tighten with a wrench.Do not over tighten. Note: the supplied brass adapter is fitted with a 1/8”BSP cone seat swivel connector. An additional adapter may be required to suit your gun or cylinder.
  2. The knurled brass bleeder valve must be closed by turning fully clockwise. Finger tightness is all that is required. Do not use tools to tighten.
  3. The pump is now ready to charge the cylinder. Use a full stroke for efficiency.
  4. The gauge will indicate a rapid rise in pressure upon initial pumping, gradually rising at a slower rate until the pressure in the pump and the pressure within the cylinder are equalized. The indicated gauge pressure at this point will give a guide to the residual pressure in the cylinder. Continue pumping until the required pressure is indicated. Do not exceed 200 bar.
  5. When working pressure has been achieved (for most modern air weapons this is between 180 and 200 bar – see manufacturers specification) open the bleed valve at the bottom of the pump to release the residual air pressure. A built in safety device which controls the rate of air discharge enables the bleed valve to be opened quickly without risk of injury. Disconnect the cylinder from the adapter.
  6. If charging a high volume cylinder do not exceed approximately 100 continuous strokes without opening the bleed valve to allow excess moisture to be expelled from the pump and adapter. Failure to do this could shorten the life of your airgun. Should the pump body tube feel excessively warm, ideally, allow to cool before recommencing pumping.

Precautions

Only use the pump to fill compressed air cylinders used In modern pneumatic airguns.Do not use for any other purpose.

The maximum recommended air pressure for this pump is 200 bar.

Do not exceed the manufacturers recommended filling pressure rating of the cylinder. This could result in injury to yourself or others. Never attempt to recharge a damaged air cylinder.

Always use the pump on firm, non-slip surfaces.

Do not use the pump without a fully working pressure gauge fitted. Gauges are robust but can be damaged (particularly the face) by careless handling.

Ensure correct posture for pumping.

Guns that have reservoirs or regulators made of steel should be periodically checked for corrosion.

Maintenance of pump

After prolonged use the pump may become harder to operate. This can be caused by a blocked filter; lack of lubrication; or a build up of previously applied lubricant causing friction of seals and rod.

The pump has a specially designed micron filter to prevent excess moisture, oil, grease or contaminants from entering the cylinder when charging.

This filter is easily replaceable and should be changed when it becomes clogged or after extensive use. Spare seal and filter replacement kits are readily available.

It is recommended that the pump is occasionally cleaned and lubricated for long life and ease of use. Lubrication should be applied onto the pump rod and then pumped for a few strokes.

The pump is factory lubricated using silicon grease.

Do not use Petroleum based Lubricants.
