ENGRAVING BY SCOTT PILKINGTON
Here are various examples of my engraving with various themes
A custom-made knife by Loyd McConnell that we jointly did for the legend Chuck Yeager. Engraving the meteorite was a little difficult due to the varying hardness of each separate layer. the gold lines in the signature required many extra cuts to be sure the inlay would be perfectly straight after the gold was pounded in. This project was commissioned by a good friend of General Yeager, and given to him on the day in question and thus was carried by him as once again he flew breaking the sound barrier 50 years after the first time.
A custom-made banjo by Jim Grainger. The central “blank” figures in the scrollwork are traditional patterns of the pearl inlays found on the neck.
Top view of the banjo.
Bulino engraving showing a Japanese Zero flying over the USS Arizona. Pink gold and yellow gold inlays create the explosions with thousands of tiny dots creating the smoke. This knife was done to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, engraved by Scott pilkington in 1991. This knife was a collaboration with knifemaker Scott Sawby.
A fine set of gentleman’s pocket knives with tortoiseshell inlays and diamond thumb stud.
I reproduced a Parker Invincible pattern on a shotgun for a guy. He liked it so much he had it done to a couple of his handguns.
Scott Sawby folder with trout fishing scenes.
The engraving on the bolster of this pocket knife is approximately the size of a postage stamp.
Martin Edmonson and Scott at the shop of Senor Jose Draga, one of the world’s greatest silversmiths.
A little project I did for … you guessed it, a Disney fan!
A fantasy engraving piece. The inlay material is dinosaur bone.
My first magazine cover September 1985.
An old Remington shotgun I did for a former US Team member.
Family portraits done to order. This one on a Dakota bolt action rifle floor plate.
